Stanford Ave

THE PROJECT

The idea for this addition came from somewhere unexpected. The clients had a lake home with an addition they found themselves using every day, and they wanted to bring that same feeling back to their U-City house.

Light was the priority, along with a wood-clad vaulted ceiling they had loved at the lake. The finished space delivers both, with the ceiling giving the room height and the windows filling it with daylight through the day.

As with any vaulted ceiling, the depth available was too shallow for traditional fiberglass insulation, so closed cell foam was used instead. It insulates properly without eating into the ceiling height, which is the whole reason for vaulting in the first place.
